But let's also remember that Daisy was supposed to have a moderating effect upon Nan in return! To be honest, Nan's probably my favorite character out of all of them. She discovers an early interest in medicine and goes out and becomes a doctor, no messing around with falling in love and suddenly realizing that oh, the passion she had since childhood isn't as important as being a wife and mother. Obviously there's nothing wrong with being a wife and mother, I just dislike how Alcott's books consistently characterize it as THE end-all of womanly achievements.
