Ah yes. While I liked (for a given value of) that they gave us a plausible reason for Kylo to go off the rails (though it doesn't explain how he got there in the first place) you're right that it didn't seem right for Luke. Mr. "I know my father has murdered thousands and thousands of innocent people but I know there's good in him somewhere and I'm going to save him" Skywalker. That guy.

I mean okay, a couple decades passed between RotJ and Luke's school getting burned down so I suppose theoretically something could've happened to change that part of him. But it would've had to have been something MAJOR that we've seen no hint of to make it even remotely believable and that's not the kind of thing you can leave out of showing us, the audience.

In perilous danger of rambling too much here so I'll stop. :)
