In other words, I tried reading Fushigi Yuugi one day and failed instantly. ):
The art is awesome, the characters are awesome and Yuuko is so many kinds of win she probably has a star named after her. )8
WTF sudden XXXholic/Stardust crossover bunnyWHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOP

FUSHIGI YUUGI IS A GOOD EXAMPLE. I used to be really into that back when it was being released still, and I sped read through it one night a few weeks ago and could not figure out for the life of me what I was thinking.
I'm still trying to figure out if I like their art style for the series, but the storyline and characters more than make up for it. *^*

YES, THANK YOU. I'm always a little wary of saying it and then getting jumped for ZOMG RAGGING ON THE GIRLS. OTL I LIKE THE GIRLS FINE IF THEY AREN'T IRRITATING AS HELL, TYVM. I mean, not that I think the Internets is one giant feminazi, but it's become a kind of self-preservation instinct just to not say it out loud. ):
On that note/speaking of shoujo: WELCOME TO MY JOURNAL, AND ENJOY YOUR STAY/SLOW DECREASE IN BRAIN CELLS (http://fyretoppaaa.livejournal.com/190561.html). ;)
I've heard a lot about the male characters in it, and seen a lot of wankery about the female portion--man, I just wanted to read it for the crossdresser guy, but I couldn't make it past the first volume. D8
I like the art style of Holic better than Tsubasa's, honestly. It's a little more gothic and stylized, slightly less expressive, maybe, but it fits the atmosphere of the manga and my on aesthetic taste, so. XD YEAH THAT'S MY 2C. /o/

OHOHOHO.
Dude, Nuriko in that series is awesome, and so is Tasuki. But I really don't care much for the rest of the cast ): I think I just have a thing for Tasuki's character type, though.
VERY TRUE, I think the art works for both of them, and I can understand them trying to give them a different feel than the rest of their series (I think only RG Veda and MKR had even remotely similar styles. Tokyo Babylon and X too but >_>) BUT YES, you're right on that.

PORNROMANCE instead of the other way around. Honestly, whatever genre it is, I want plot to be the primary objective. :|| So much the better if there's a ship involved/hinted at, but, yes. The problem with a lot of shoujo is that it doesn't have a strong plot; I mean, everyday life/high school/college doramu CAN be a strong plot, true, but not a 40-volume one. :/IT'S PART OF THE REASON I LOVE 7 SEEDS, IT HAS A PLOT THAT CAN LAST. 8DD And survival > romance. I fucking love this series. 8))
Tell me moar about this Tasuki. :OO
XXXholic/Tsubasa are both a bit of a breakaway in terms of style (so is Legal Drug, but that one's fallen WAY off my radar by now ): I wonder how it's doing...); it's refreshing, despite the fact that I loved the way CLAMP's original style developed in X/1999. Fuuma was some hot shit by vol. 18, man. |D

NOW THAT I'M LOOKING AT IT I think I actually recognize that art from somewhere. I'll have to look into it.
TASUKI. IS A MOUNTAIN BANDIT. And he's ...really basically a hot-blooded, very protective, short tempered kind of character with a deep sense of loyalty and honor andfj lfjdlfj He's awesome. BUT HE'S ALSO KIND OF DUMB AND SPAZZY and makes for lulz (see icon)
I kind of remember the art for Legal Drug, but I never really got into it. Yeah yeah. I think everyone who's been following them for so long feels the same way, but everyone's art has to develop eventually, right?
One thing I really enjoyed in the newer CLAMP in Wonderland video was that while the animation was done in newer styles, the art itself for each character was reminescent of their original styles flasjdf It was so beautiful.
