Age: 44
Location: San Francisco
Fandoms: House, Heroes, SPN, Heroes RPS, J2, Age Of Sail, Obernewtyn (you win the internets if you know what it is), Darkover, Star Trek original series (not a K/Ser sry), Sailor Moon.
What in fandom interests me: Squee, subtext, roleplaying, smut, hoyay, broyay, female characters who don't suck (usually because they were conceived of as powerful players in their own right, not "love interests" or rescue bait), characters who are crazier than fuck but still hot somehow. (My favourite characters include people like Jim Profit, Sylar, Dexter, and the like. I was once interested in Tom Riddle, but after she decided he was born genetically evil and never had a chance, I lost interest in him and in HP.)
What in fandom does NOT interest me: Wank and fandom self-blaming. If your immediate response to hearing that someone else does not like your favourite plot line, character, genre, situation, pairing, actor/actress, &c is to blame them or their fandom for being OMG racist or misogynist--we will not get along. This is not to say that I'm not interested at all in looking at canons critically, but any reading of a canon that refuses to consider the characters as depictions of people with a certain set of histories and experiences and treats them as potential role models that must display proper social attitudes or be punished/schooled for it on screen is going to either bore the shit out of me or piss me off a lot. Sorry. This is also not to say that people in fandom are never racist or misogynist, but I don't think it's the root cause of every single fandom debate or problem and in general, I don't believe in maligning the character of people who do not happen to share my personal tastes.
I also don't friend people who spend a lot of time on Journalfen at the wank comms or in places like GetOffEGL, Lolita Fucks, Deleterius...if your idea of a good time involves mocking other people in public, we're never going to be BFFs.
Major Non-fandom Interests: Fashion (steampunk, modest dress, lolita), religion (Judaism and Thelema), cooking, cats... Um. Frankly given that I have heard Judaism called a fandom and Lolita fashion called a fandom and I know that bands have fandoms, I'm not really sure what counts as non-fannish any more.
My LJ Contains Mostly: My LJ is really random and is often neglected when my RPG is busy. It contains ranting, personal life stuff, squee, occasional recs and links to ficcage or icons.
Other: If you like what I say please friend me. If you're hoping for wank fodder, don't.
