It's all about the interactions for me. my ships are such a broad range of types - asshole + asshole, derp + cold fish, best friends to more, sworn brothers, rivalsex but still rivals, etc, so it isn't a particular dynamic that gets me. Just that they have some kind of interesting dynamic, the way they interact with each other suggesting that on another layer they might get together if they had the chance.

chemistry first, then the hotness. and the chemistry has to have that extra spark to it, otherwise it always stays firmly in platonic territory no matter how hot they are. I've admired plenty of hot characters who just never tip over to having the spark with anyone that would make me imagine them jumping into bed (or up against a wall or over a table or...).
