Oooooh. This is a hard choice. I hate Darcy with the passion of a thousand suns BUT she is easy to blacklist. Poptart!Loud!Thor can just slip in.

For some reason I read that as DirecTV at first and wasn't even phased.

Well, maybe a little.

ANY pairing involving DirectTV

(Anonymous) 2017-12-22 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
bit harsh

(Anonymous) 2017-12-22 12:33 am (UTC)(link)
I had no idea Thor/Poptarts was a thing.

Why the hate on for Darcy? /not in fandom

(Anonymous) 2017-12-22 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
My general sense is that people think she's (a) boring and annoying and (b) gets used as an audience stand-in too often in fic.

I mean, taste is taste, but I do think some of the hate is way too over the top.

(Anonymous) 2017-12-22 03:58 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think it's about hating Darcy just her ridiculous ships. She was a relatively minor, mostly comic relief character yet somehow became one of the biggest marvel fandoms shipping bicycles.

(Anonymous) 2017-12-22 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
In-universe, I don't hate her. I just find her kind of low-key annoying in the way that I find most "Hey, audience-member. Here is a quirky secondary character that you can identify with!" characters annoying. Like when cartoon series would throw in a random kid character to help out the main characters.

Fandom Darcy is fucking Scrappy Doo with a taser, if Scrappy Doo was Shaggy's lovechild who was banging Daphne and Fred.

(Anonymous) 2017-12-22 04:41 am (UTC)(link)
She's a woman.

(Anonymous) 2017-12-22 05:07 am (UTC)(link)
It's a bit late in the post to try this.

(Anonymous) 2017-12-22 06:01 am (UTC)(link)
Sorry, not everyone runs on American time.

Try what? Fandom is deadly when it comes to shipping a woman with a man. It's worse in RP too, where players who have female muses looking for D in a meme are referred to as 'cock hoppers'.

You're delusional if you think fandom is not harder on female characters.

MCU fandom loves them some Jane and Betty and Peggy and Natasha and Sif, and despite the crazy Snape-wife nature of some Tony stans, Pepper gets more love than not. So, I’m going to go out on a limb and say there’s something else about Darcy that’s getting on people’s nerves.

despite the crazy Snape-wife nature of some Tony stans Stony/FrostIron/WinterIron/ScienceBros slash crazies, Pepper gets more love than not

Fixed it for you.

Thor liking Poptarts is fine in moderation, Darcy is ALWAY awful.

(Anonymous) 2017-12-22 01:02 am (UTC)(link)
Haha, the funny thing here is that I absolutely adore Darcy's scenes in the movies and absolutely cannot stand her in the fandom. Although Loud-Poptart-Thor is another thing I hate with a burning passion, and I feel like a lot of that characterization made its way into canon with the third movie. (Let me tell you all of the ways I cannot stand the third movie; biggest disappointment of the year. Though Fandom-Darcy may still be worse, to be fair.)

I don't read any ships with Darcy in so poptart!Thor still annoys me a hell of a lot more, especially since ships can be tagged, CAPSLOCK poptart!Thor never is and sneaks in when you least expect it. >:|

I think it's so funny how they just effortlessly shelved a bunch of MCU characters, especially in the Thor movies. If you're unlucky like Natalie Portman and Darcy, you'll get one line explaining where you went, if you're lucky you get a gruesome death like the Warriors Three.

(Anonymous) 2017-12-22 01:50 am (UTC)(link)
Agreed.

(Anonymous) 2017-12-22 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
Ooh, tough choice. On one hand I feel like Poptart!Thor was about 50% fans going "Haha, it's funny because it's so OOC!" and 50% fans going "Haha, it's funny because it's true!" where as I think Darcy stans are more 90% thinking they're totally IC.

But as mentioned above, Poptart!Thor is worse about suddenly appearing with no warning.

I am a Darcy stan and fic writer. The longer fic is often good but it's a lot rarer now than it was even a year ago. The short fics are getting really ...well, either Darcy is interchangeable or the guy is.

(Anonymous) 2017-12-22 04:01 am (UTC)(link)
Hard second.

How dare you!

(Anonymous) 2017-12-22 04:20 am (UTC)(link)
I love Darcy, I don't even care what you say.

Same, but my tastes in fic can be questionable at times (I like HP bashing fics), but I do like a nice plotty fic over anything else, and the longer Darcy fics can be pretty good IMO.
