Active fan spaces that don't feel like a corporate app?

Other than Dreamwidth... which is only sort of active, depending on the fandom.

I know the only place I know of that's populated by people into some of my big fannish interests is Tumblr, but the amount of "follow these random blogs! Spend more time on our site for the sake of it!" feels very, Idk, off putting. Not to mention to creepy Big Brother feels I get when it tells me what device, browser, and location I last used it on.

Also I want something that isn't constantly pushing me to download their app.
