Best: rocking chair.
Worst: a massive box of tea. Initially I thought YAY! TEA! Because I love tea. I love black tea! It was good! And then I was super, super, super sick for a while. Like intestinal problems from hell. And then I read the fine-print on the box and realized it was meant to be a diet aid you make in a large pitcher and drink small amounts of over the day and NOT regular black tea you drink several hot cups of in the morning because it's tasty and you like caffeine.
Yeah. Not only does some company make this goddawful product and package it with just the words "BLACK TEA", hiding its true purpose in tiny letters on the back, but some dick decided explosive-diarrhea-inducing-diet-tea was a great present for an office random gift exchange.


It's been years now and I'm still mad.

Not that it makes the effects any more pleasant, but there's a pretty good chance that whoever added it to the office gift exchange also just noticed the obvious label and thought "oh, hey, a large box of tea, some of my coworkers really like tea, I'll get that", and didn't notice the fine print, rather than deliberately being a dick. Because really, why would anyone think to check if something labeled as back tea was actually an absurdly badly labeled diet product?

DA: Yeah, that would have been my first thought too. Like, why assume that the coworker wasted money on a giant box of tea to be a dick, when it was that poorly labeled in the first place? Generally, if someone decides to get a gag gift for those office things, it's an obvious gag gift.

Best: A silver with a gem that sort of looks like an iris. My partner gave it to me at the start of our (now nearly fifteen year) relationship and I still have it. I wear it only on special occasions because I'm a clumsy jewellery-destroyer but I love it.
Worst: I don't think I've ever gotten a gift I didn't like.

The best gift I've gotten is as a Kitchenaid Mixer from the Reddit Secret Santa exchange.

The worst is probably all the stupid origami sets I got growing up!

This year my friend sent me an autographed postcard of my favorite band. That is definitely one of the best. That and a book about my favorite band that my other friend sent me a few years ago, that must have cost a lot of money to ship to the U.S.

When I was younger and celebrated Christmas mother's friend once gave me a little plastic Christmas tree that played Christmas carols and snowed on itself. It was incredibly tacky. I wasn't upset about it though - she was a good person who just wasn't so great at gift-giving.

The best gift I've ever gotten is probably my comfy black cardigan, I've had it for years and I love it to death.

Worst is getting any kind of chocolate or sweets because I'll never eat them.

I've gotten quite a few bad gifts, because my mother is just really not a very good gift giver, and also her sensibilities just don't match with mine AL ALL.

For best, my father recently gave me a gorgeous yellow gold, diamond, and sapphire ring for my 30th birthday. Another best is the stuffed animal he won from a claw machine and gave me when I was eight. I still have it, it stays on my bed, and I sleep with it in my arms most nights because it's just a really comfortable shape to hold onto.
