LotR.

Where do I start? probably with Frodo leaving Bag End a few hours after Bilbo. Cut the sweet corn, put in Bombadil, make the Prancing Pony into a nice pub rather than a Dickensian dive, replace angtsty!Aragorn with a proper Aragorn, remove the gazebos from Rivendell and replace them with a good half-timbered building... the list goes on.

Do I even have to mention Denethor?

Bombadil doesn't work in a movie. He's too random, and even though the barrow downs part is good, the rest of his appearance just stops the plot dead and replaces it with songs about his wife soaking her feet.
