It's a bit silly isn't it? And it's just dragon age, oddly enough. Mass effect is pretty consistent.

Well Mass Effect had really solid writing for ME1 and that helps a lot. They establish the rules the universe operates under in the first 30 seconds of the game and really never deviate from that even in the crazier parts of the series.

DA:O is fine. All the DLC are fine, and build nicely on what the base game established. DA2 is okay, it never gets too screwy outside of the dwarven timeline fuckery. But then DA:I comes along and fucks basically everything up. Elves, Qunari, spirits, the Blight, all of it. And it's so bad it can't even remain internally consistent within that one game.

I like so many of the concepts in DA but goddamn thinking about it frustrates me so much bc like WHY couldn't you keep it consistent???!!
