Uh, have you heard of acceptable and unacceptable breaks from reality? If it literally can't happen in real life (supernatural things), it's an acceptable break from reality. If it could happen in real life but is highly unlikely to because it isn't realistic (anything related to human nature and behavior goes in this category), it's bad writing.
