hhhhh, I hate to admit it, but same. I get legitimately angry at the rest of Compilation, and wish they'd just retire the characters entirely instead of continuing to hash out the massive character assassinations they've all received. Poor Cloud. Poor Aeris.

Haha, right?! It actually sucks when you feel that well-established characters were totally butchered in spin-offs/sequels, especially ones that were made so long after the original and take it in such a different direction. For Star Wars, though I'm old enough to have been a fan of the original trilogy before the prequels came out, I guess I was young enough to enjoy the prequels and open enough about it to where nothing the new trilogy could do would offend me. But I can't quite bring myself to judge fans who are appalled by, say, Luke's characterization or whatever, because I know what that feeling is like.
