Man, I feel you on the Star Wars front. The more I think about The Last Jedi, the less I like it, but I still look at the people who are signing goddamn petitions over it and I'm like, "for fuck's sake, y'all, chill out." You aren't going to get Rian Johnson to admit that it's crap, you shouldn't even want that.

I sort of want to grab them all by the lapels and shout, "how would you feel if someone made a petition demanding you admit that your epic piece of fanfiction, the one that you deeply cherish and into which you poured your heart and soul, is a steaming pile of shit?" I feel like there's a serious reification that happens with popular and iconic media, to where people are able to totally otherize the creator and feel justified in treating them as subhuman.

Well, fuck, man, it's just a movie, at the end of the day. Ain't no reason to harass someone.
