Sure, but when the vast majority of the time the person chosen as the bottom is the smaller or kinder (more like a women) one, I am going to roll my eyes a bit.

Why?

If you're doing anal, someone's gotta be bottom. Why shouldn't you give the job to the one that suits your preferred aesthetics better? You might argue that being more stereotypically feminine doesn't mean you're the bottom, sure, but it doesn't mean you're the top either. The only way it'd be OOC is if the character canonically hates bottoming and only likes topping - and hell, even then, I'm sure there's fic opportunity for the opposite scenario.

Because as a reader who enjoys switching, it is annoying to me that fandom stereotypes one person as the bottom based on their size. It is a fandom trend I hate.
