Re: Fandom trends you hate
But most of my hate for the 'designated fandom bottom' is because the character gets completely warped into this weird OOC mess. See: Charles in pretty much all porny XMFC fic, just... that got so, so bad and creepy.
Re: Fandom trends you hate
(Anonymous) 2017-12-29 10:15 am (UTC)(link)Huh. I have zero experience with the XMFC fandom, but I would've thought Erik would've ended up becoming the fandom's preferred bottom, because he's harboring so much pain and he needs saving from his own inner darkness, or whatever. I mean, Fassbender is obviously the more physically imposing and predatory looking of the two, while McAvoy is smaller with a more boyish, kind-looking face, so I guess bottom!Charles is the obvious physically-based stereotype option. But in my mind bottom!Erik would be the more characterization-based stereotype.
Re: Fandom trends you hate
It started off more equal to begin with, because new shiny fandom, but it quickly fell into 'Charles always bottoms and Erik always tops' purely from the fact that Erik is taller and more physically built and fanon!Charles ended up being turning into this weird woobie mess that was nothing like his canon counterpart at all. It's why I stopped reading the fic.
