but when almost every Yaoi has some "big strong seme protecting the small weepy uke", it gets tired as all out fuck

to you, perhaps. some of us yaoi fans happen to continue to like that. but it appears we are not free to enjoy it but have to accomodate you when we write it or we get cries and complaints that we aren't doing it like you want it done.

It all comes down to characterization, m'dear.

If there was Big Strong Seme/Small Weepy Uke in the original work, by all means, keep it. If there wasn't...we might have some problems.

Why I hate/grew bored with the OH NOES HELPLESS uke/BIG STRONG MENZ!!! thing is because women have spent the last century trying to break the "damsel in distress" stereotype. I suppose that found its niche somewhere else in the end. Old habits die hard, suchforth and so on.

There are some people who are honestly like that, but to paint a weaker man as essentially another form of the in-need and useless woman is sort of sad. Its just reinforcing an old gender role in a different way.

I don't hate people who do it, but I'm just saying how I see it.

But sometimes it's seeing a man in thast role that's the point of seme/uke yaoi.

I don't always like it, and I definitely can't stand it in fanfic of canon where it goes against all characterisation, but it can be a way to subvert male sexuality and gender role.

And some of us Yaoi fans don't. You are free to enjoy what you wish, but don't whine because some of us want to see more variety and are speaking up about it.

And accommodate us? No one is asking YOU to accommodate anything! Write how you want to write, but don't get all pissy when people call you out on mischaracterization, etc. due to some dumbassed Yaoi stereotypes you chose to follow.
