This is the part of asexuality that I just don't get, tbh.

I don't get it either. I mean, the point of asexuality is supposed to be no sexual attraction at all, no? I'm willing to believe that there are people who really, honestly are not and have never been attracted sexually to any person and don't feel sexual urges (or feel them once in a blue moon). But honestly, I think that most people who claim to be asexual do so because it's a nice excuse for not even trying to form romantic/intimate relationships, so instead of facing their shyness or awkwardness and actually working on it, they say "well, I'm asexual!" and all is well.

I mean, I'm not exactly a sexual being myself. But I wouldn't call myself asexual because I do feel arousal sometimes and when I do, I enjoy getting off, and I don't mind having sex with a partner every now and then.

If someone labels themselves as asexual, I don't doubt them at all, and it's certainly none of my business. I just don't quite understand exactly what "counts" as asexuality, beyond the obvious "I don't want to have sex" part. I mean, I've never wanted to have sex with anyone in particular, so am I asexual?

It's tricky, but yes, some would consider it asexual. Asexuaity simply means that one does not want to have sex with anybody, and is thus not attracted to anybody.

Hmm - but what if I've just met very few people in my life?
