I have no idea what this is about, but nobody "turns" sexist (or racist, or into an asshole) when they're drunk. They just hide it when they're sober.

There's a line acknowledging this on the show, something like: "I didn't realize he'd be such a jerk when he's drunk" "Oh he's always been a jerk, you just couldn't find out until now". (The characters backstory was that he had for many years selective mutism and could literally only speak to women when drunk.)

NGL I thought Raj was cute in the first few seasons, especially before they started straightening his hair. Shame his character got worse as the series went on.

I actually thought for a while they'd have the stones to have him come out and make him and Stuart (the comic book store owner?) a couple, but.... pfft.

I'm not a big fan of the show, but in many ways I found Raj to almost be the most likeable of the dudes (and then they had to do the whole drunk-sexist thing. Sigh.).

My familiarity with the show is that it happens to be on a lot when I'm a the gym, so I know little of the storyline as such. From what I've taken from the incidental episodes I've seen, I'd definitely say that Raj is the most likeable of the main cast. I've yet to see any drunk misogyny, though.

At least in the early seasons, it was misogyny of the "smooth player" pickup artist variety.

Isn't the point of the "gay jokes" to show how off-base his friends are since they know how badly he wants a girlfriend and somehow that doesn't matter since femmy interests? Or at least that's how I always took it, that THEY'RE the butts of jokes when they say such stupid things. I see it like that in real life too, when people try doing that, I'm laughing at them and not their target.
