I love the tags on AO3. Yesterday, I had a craving for fics where my OTP get snowed in or trapped in a snowstorm, so I searched for "snow" and voila! Of course, this only works for fandom/pairings where there's lots of fic, but it's pretty awesome to have the option.

I remember reading Mulder/Scully fic on a Mulder/Scully-specific archive and everything was organized by author's name and there were no tags or search function, or even a way to see what had been uploaded most recently. Even without tags, FFN has a leg up over old archives, because you can see what has been posted recently.
