...like half the people in your fandom dislike you, and would just rather you shut up?

I...don't know. I keep reaching out to people, making sure to tell them when I like what they've written/drawn/etc and exactly what I like about it, reblog to spread the word, send them asks when those "send me asks" memes float around, and...

Well I guess I'm being stupid, because I have made connections with some people, so obviously I'm not a total failure and not everyone hates me. But I'm feeling really down right now because I think someone actually deleted the comments I left them on their most recent fic and I don't know what I would have done to upset them. It's either that, or I'm losing my damn mind.

I wish I didn't feel so down about such silly things.

They engage plenty of other folks though. And of course no one is obligated to like me or talk to me in particular, but I wish I knew what it was about me.

Ultimately it's very silly and I need to get my brain to shut up about it.

Your feelings are real and valid. Sometimes people do weird shit out of left field and it can very much feel like an attack, no matter what they meant by it.

It probably isn't you. Someone who randomly deletes well-intentioned comments has their own issues, whatever they may be.

Aww, I'm sorry you're feeling that way, nonny. *hugs* It could just be them. I get nervous about saying the wrong things, so I rarely reply to comments and stuff, but it's very odd to delete a well meaning comment on a fic. I'm always thrilled when there are comments on my fics and I'd never delete them unless they were inflammatory in some way.

I have, and quite a bit lately. After years of trying to make friends in my most recent fandom, I finally said "Fuck it all," wrapped up my WIPs, and unfollowed brick walls.
