Wait...other than Logan, what gritty action stuff has he done?

Les Mis is gritty

Not an action movie.

Well, you can't have everything.

Well, obviously they are talking about Swordfish.

And maybe Van Helsing. But, really, isn't Logan enough? There were, like, seven movies with him doing a significant chunk of the action.

X-Men movies (other than Logan) are no less goofy than the old Bond films.

Van Helsing is an action comedy and very far from gritty. It's my favorite Jackman movie anyway.

I was trying to be facetious. Apparently, it didn't come across. Swordfish isn't gritty, it's just bad.

Oh no, you just reminded me that I've watched Swordfish. So many wasted minutes.

Sorry. I don't know what happened with that movie, but oh my God, it is so bad.

The blowjob during the job interview. Just... shut up. How is that at all productive or useful or an efficient use of resources (hacking or BJing)? Ugh, it's been years and that still annoys me.

I think his role as Wolverine is enough, really.

(Anonymous) 2018-01-06 10:34 pm (UTC)(link)
If you think the X-Men movies, other than Logan are gritty action movies, you don't know what a gritty action movie is.

I think OP meant to have a comma in there. He's done action (X-men x 8, Swordfish) angsty drama (Prisoners, Logan, sorta the Prestige) and hammy villainy (Chappie, Pan) so they are ready to see him do more funny and happy things that suit his personality, because he is the most exuberant and kind sonovabitch this side of Tom Hanks, and he should get to smile more onscreen.
