For years and years I didn't know he was The Joker. When I found out I thought it was so cool. I told my dad (because watching stuff like Star Wars and BTAS together was a huge part of our father-daughter time when I was growing up) and he didn't know either!

Even though it's just a voice I think Mark will always be my favourite portrayal. The only time he hasn't really worked for me was the adaption of The Killing Joke but there was quite a lot wrong with that adaption anyway.

I think Hamill even hated Killing Joke, which is sad, since his whole thing was "I would only return to that role for an adaptation of TKJ."

That's sad, though also I suppose a lesson in something never being as good as you'd hoped when you get it. Probably applies to fans too. I think the only thing I'm grateful for is that we got those last few panels of the book with Mark and Kevin Conroy doing the voices. I can take that scene. Everything else I can leave.

I didn't know for years, either. I didn't watch B:TAS when it first ran, though. I think it ran opposite Duck Tails or something else I was watching. I did grow up watching Star Wars, so that's all I knew of Hamill.

I can see how some people only knew him as the Joker, though, if they grew up watching B:TAS and not Star Wars, and how many people just never realized they were the same person.

It's interesting how to some people, he was Luke Skywalker and not the Joker and to others he was the Joker and not Luke (and, I'm sure, he was both or neither for others still).
