Honestly mostly I just want to tell my socialist friends who are saying she's rich and therefore shouldn't be president to shut up. Comparing her, when she came from poverty and has fought a whole ton of racism, sexism, and other stuff over the years to people like Trump or even Hillary is rather ludicrous to me. I think it is a symptom of a lot of socialism that forgets that there are other forms of discrimination besides class. So while I agree with a lot of socialist ideas, I think without the racism, sexism, ablism, etc. angle, you can't really deal with society's problems. And your movement is really mostly just helping white men still.

Oprah worked fucking hard to get where she is today; holding her success against her seems really short-sighted.

I noticed with Bernie Sanders that he seemed kind of clueless about issues like BLM.

Yup. That's why I stopped liking Bernie. Like, yes, there is a huge gap between the wealthy and the poor in this country. But if you can't see that race is a pretty big factor in that, then I think you are missing a whole lot.

I don't particularly hold a brief for Bernie, but I don't think he's been substantively worse on BLM or issues of race than the average white mainstream Democrat. It seems like a little bit of a double standard to hold him accountable for it but not (apparently) the rest of the Democratic Party.
