I've always done a version of this. After all the public persona can be as much an act as a character in a show. So when they say/do dumb ass things I put it down to poor script writing.

I already do this... the whole RPFing in my head, I guess you'd call it. It's the usual daydreaming about being best friends/in a romantic relationship with an actor or musician but obviously I'm just guessing at what their real personalities are like and what they're into... though I do pay attention to interviews and stuff like that and use that material, when applicable.

It pains me how relevant this secret is to one of my favorite bands. Well, I guess it's good that I always pirated their music like the cheapskate I am. I'm torn now if I ever want to see them live again because as great as the last concert of theirs I went to was, I'm paranoid they'll go on a tirade with how today's political landscape is.
