Same! I was not a fan of Dot and Axel, but I liked Mack and Funshine, and I really hope Kali returns in S3.

I think part of the crit was that some people felt it interrupted the narrative flow, but that was the point. Jane is off doing this strange stuff while all hell is breaking loose in the lab. (And they did tie it in well with the little Void bits.)

(P.S. I don't agree with those who want to swap the sequence of 7 and 8. If anything, maybe swap 6 and 7.)

Sure both groups are 80s cliches but that group was just soooo annoying. Especially the punk dude. I really hoped they would all die except Kali. Hoping she comes back later but the rest can fuck off.

I'm having some hopes that How to Talk to Girls at Parties gives us better punk.

I didn't mind it either.

I liked it too. I see it as opening up to the larger and wider story of what all went down to these kids who were experimented on (where are the other 9 people?) and how that ties in to the upside down. Before, I thought Eleven was the only one who'd survived for long enough to become "useful" to the bad guys.

Sure there were slow moments but that's how it is with all the Netflix shows. Not enough stuff gets edited out.

I liked it too, it was interesting to see another kid that had gone through the same thing who turned out differently. I liked her interactions with Eleven as well, because I'll always be happy to see positive female exchanges.

I'd like to see more of her and her group but we'll see where that goes.

I went back and forth on how I felt about Kali. either way I thought she was such an interesting character and want to see more of her, but I was uneasy at how manipulative she was of Eleven at times. like, she's all 'we're sisters, yay' and there was some sweet bonding, but then she uses her mind-trick to conjure up a Brenner hallucination on a traumatized child to convince Eleven to go along with her plan to murder people. ummm....

that made me doubt how genuine the earlier scenes were as it seemed like maybe she was just using Eleven for her own ends, but then I was relieved she didn't flip out at things going badly with the murder attempt - she did get angry, but it was in a 'don't you ever take my choice away from me' way that I understood, as opposed to 'HDU not commit murder at my behest'. and she risked everyone's safety to try and convince Eleven to come with them, so it wasn't like she was that pissed with her.

and tbf, I get her wanting to kill the guy - he tortured her as a child, I'm actually a bit irritated with Eleven stopping her when she had every right to exact revenge. but then...Kali shouldn't have involved her in the first place as that's kinda selfish and not really in her best interests.

I wasn't a big fan of the episode because it did interrupt the flow (I feel like it should've been swapped with the previous episode so that we don't get that huge cliffhanger and then the momentum is killed with a completely different side-adventure ep) and I thought some of the punks were really cliche and idiotic, but I loved the Kali/Eleven interactions. it really makes me think of both sides and I can't completely take one character's side over the other because both are really sympathetic.

tl;dr - I want to see more Kali for sure ^_^

I...didn't particularly like any of those characters but I do hope Kali comes back and wins me over.

Same, OP. I loved the ep, loved the new characters and really really hope we get to see Kali again.

I liked it. I'll grant that some of the characters were a little overdone, but overall I thought it was a good episode and I'd definitely like to see Kali again.

I think I might have liked it better if it had been treated as an ongoing subplot, rather than "let's stop all of the main action dead for an episode having nothing to do with the main plot." That really highlighted the disconnect from everything happening back in Hawkins.
