They really went too far with “Hermione has bad teeth” when they cast her.

She has very typical teeth for her generation. Things like braces for crooked teeth weren't covered by the UK's healthcare so many families couldn't afford them or they weren't a high priority.

Um.... her parents were dentists.

And when Pomfrey fixed her teeth in GoF, Hermione mentioned that her parents wouldn't be happy because they'd wanted her to "go on with her braces."

Not sure what you mean here. Emma would have been covered for braces.

I thought she was talking about Noma Dumezweni. She was born in 1969. I am pretty sure cosmetic braces weren't covered during her childhood and they certainly not a priority for a lot of families of refugees.
