Kind of based on #3

Are there fandom people you've wondered/worried about? Or aren't worried about per se, but you noticed they disappeared randomly?

(Bonus points if anyone reunites here...)

I used to really love Ezra's Persian Kitty's fic, and she seems to have disappeared.

I had a weird friend who got mad at me for no apparent reason, and flipped her personality completely. She was a few years older than me, and we met at this website called Diary Project or something. We became friends, yadda yadda. Well, one day I IM her, and she goes "what?" like I was bothering her. We had a few exchanges like that, and finally she calls me a bitch. Then she apologizes and says she was the bitch. Um. Yeah. I forgave her for some reason, but she pretty much did that again, and said she never liked me and only used AIM for boys.

But I mean, we were friends - with no issues - for a year or maybe even two years before any of that happened. So I still wonder if she was just very fickle, if she was dealing with something emotionally or mentally and that was why, or what.

Not really my friend, but a friend of a friend at a forum - who had a lot of friends there - disappeared. She HAD gotten into trouble at work for going online there, and didn't have internet at home.

The stranger bit is that one of her closer friends - would meet IRL close - reached out to her. According to this friend, she appeared to have read the PM, but never responded. Whether someone else read it (maybe her boss?) or she just didn't want to be contacted, I don't know. But I do wish she'd drop a line saying "so sorry, life got away from me." Just so we know that she's okay.

FWIW, her name was Vanja, although it wasn't her screenname.

I made friends with someone through Town of Salem. We'd work together to win (or lose, lol) games. Then she insisted to know my facebook info and was super disappointed to find out I was also a girl. Now I don't see her playing ToS anymore nor does she contact me on FB. =(

Hate to say it, but it sounds like she was scouting for online boyfriends. :(

Yeah. It's disappointing though - we worked so well together at the game.

I can't remember who it was, and kinda wish I still had the link to her journal somewhere, but she wrote Star Trek fic and dropped off suddenly. This would've been... six years ago, maybe seven?

I kept going back to her journal every now and then for a year, and one day decided to check the latest comments on her last post, and her husband had posted a notice there saying she'd died from flu complications.

I had a RL friend who I originally met through fandom. We were friends for several years, but over that time her mental health got worse and worse. We eventually had a falling out, and I do sometimes wonder how she is now, and worry about her. She deleted almost all of her online presence, bit by bit, as her mental health worsened, so now the only reason I'm pretty sure she's still alive is because she still occasionally pins things on Pinterest.

This one girl I RP with. I worry about her a lot because she'll vanish for a while. And she's been suicidal before.

I had a really good online friend I met through a forum. We would exchange emails every day and then every week. One week, I didn't get a reply from him. No biggie, I figured he was busy. I emailed him two weeks later and still no reply. I checked his login date on the forum and he hadn't logged in since he last emailed me. We were kinda growing apart due to work and school so I hope he just got really busy, felt too awkward to reply after letting so much time pass, and is doing well now.

Teza, an RP friend who wrote the most awesome Gundam Seed stuff. I dunno what happened to her, she just disappeared one day and all her logs she'd archived went with her. :( It makes me really sad I have no idea what happened.

I also had a friend I knew IRL who wrote a lot with my roommate and I in a sandbox, and she just cut ties one day. I wish she'd at least let me know if it was anything we did. It bugs me so much but I finally made peace with the fact that trying to ask about her would just be pushy. Doesn't make it hurt any less.

There's a fanauthor whose work I really like, and a couple years ago they posted a fairwell message on their tumblr, saying a new job opportunity meant they'd be leaving fandom behind, but they left their tumblr and Ao3 and ff.net accounts up. A couple weeks ago, someone posted that they'd gone looking for her fic to find her Ao3 and ff.net pages gone. Last I checked their tumblr was still up, but a lot of their fic posts now link to their nonexistent fic accounts. I wonder sometimes if they just ditched my fandom for a new one. Or maybe an old one---we have a formative fandom in common to the point that I kept findiing bits of their fics that read like rewritten fic from that older fandom. I wish I could ask her if any of it was, or get an honest answer.

Maybe someone from her work found her screen name and fandom accounts. I know someone that happened to and it can lead to a knee-jerk "delete everything" reaction.

(CW for talk of suicide.)

Not recently, but I have a really vivid memory of being 13/14 and being contacted my an online friend saying that another mutual online friend of ours had commited suicide. I remember going to my mother in tears explaining it to her and she completely brushed it off saying "She's probably making it up, anyone can make that up for attention, she's fine." But I never heard from either of them again and never found out what happened to her. :(

A friend I used to know on various social media and RP with a little. She didn't exactly "disappear randomly" but I used to talk to her online a lot and even met her face-to-face once and now I have no idea what's going on with her. Fortunately I have no reason to think anything bad happened to her so at least there's that.

Damigella314 on LJ. We were friends online and then became RL friends when she visited Calif from Italy and we were actually making plans for me to visit her in Europe when she dropped out of sight a few years ago and I never heard from her since. :(
