makeup question

[personal profile] ketita 2018-01-16 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
I have this foundation that I got (Clio's Kill Cover), and it's a pretty great foundation, but the tint is slightly yellower than I'm used to. I think in part it's because I usually use BB Cream as foundation, so I'm nudging my skin to the paler end, and bringing out the pinks in it. This foundation is a bit darker, and has yellow tints (Admittedly, my skin has yellow tones).
It could be that the reason the color bothers me is because I'm just used to the pinker tones. Does anybody here have any suggestions about what I can do to either pinken it a little bit (I'm a bit worried about just putting blush everywhere), or to help my eyes adjust to the new tone and figure out if it's really an issue or "just me"?

I think the best solution would be to look for a good foundation that comes in a shade/hue that you like better.

Perhaps, but I'm not made of money :( and if there's a way I can figure out if I can use the shade, I'd be happier not to throw away perfectly good makeup.

I mean, you could use a color corrector, but then you're just spending more money and possibly changing the attributes you like about the foundation.

It sucks to waste money on makeup that doesn't suit you, I get it. But it happens. It's not perfectly good if you don't like the way it looks.

I have to agree with other anon; if theyou shade isn't right, you're going to have to fuss with it every time you wear it, or spend money trying to adjust the shade, and it's probably not worth it. A $10 drugstore foundation in the right shade is a far better bet than an expensive foundation in the wrong shade. If we were talking about an eyeliner that wasnt perfect for you, that would be different. But a mismatched foundation is trouble all around.

I guess what I'm struggling with is figuring out if it's indeed the wrong color, or just a *different* color. If it looks fine to everybody else, I don't mind using it once in a while as my "other" foundation, and keeping the one I like for special occasions.

This might help.

But also, wearing certain colors can pick up and enhance certain tones or neutralize certain tones, so you could try different color tops, see what works best.

Thanks! This is great.
And you're right about thinking about what color clothes to pair the foundation with - I'll definitely try that :)

You're welcome, hope something works for you.

You could get a pink toned setting powder for on top? Idk how common those are though, that could be pricey.

I do have a very neutral blush, maybe if I'm very ginger with that it'll work...
