I don't think that argument holds water. If Brooker is comparing technology to a drug, then it's unlikely he's pointing out that it's evil. Drugs can be useful - life saving, even! But they can be abused. Just like technology. Like rosehiptea said, it's a cautionary tale. But I don't think that's the same thing as being an anti-technology circlejerk.

Drugs can be useful, but often times when someone uses the generic word drug, they mean something like cocaine or heroin. And even if he was talking about something like oxycodone, he is fairly specifically speaking about a dependence or addiction, which are generally not considered good things. And while some side effects are actually really good things, most of them are not something people want. So, I say it's more inclined to anti-tech than pro-tech or even neutrality.

Agreed, see my opinion below. It's not the tech that drives the misery in this show. it's people being people that does it.
