Re: What media did you think you'd hate that you ended up loving?

I didn't actually see it. I heard so much bad about it that I didn't want to spend money on it. I should probably watch it eventually.

Honestly, I was the same way. I finally watched it last year.

It's really as bad everyone says. =(

The only good things were the Robbie the Rabbit costume (ROBBIE THE RABBIT TERRIFIES ME) and the scene where Heather tries to avoid getting sliced up by the nurses. The rest of the film is hot garbage. (Douglas doesn't even have that big of a role! And Vincent's character was completely changed omg whyyyyyy???)

I think I'm better off not watching it then.

(Robbie terrifies me too. Between Donnie Darko and Silent Hill I'm just off giant rabbits.)

Honestly, it's for the best. Especially given what they do with Douglas' character (I was like, 'that's it? no way. maybe they'll show him later?' The answer is no, they don't.)

And since you're not going to watch it: small spoiler: Vincent is Claudia's son. Let that sink in for a moment. Now rage. lol

I made myself watch this a few months ago and knew it was going to make me angry as a fan of the games. :( I was amazed that they screwed the lore and canon inside out but somehow did a perfect recreation of Douglas' appearance. He was completely inconsequential in the movie and had nothing to do but I remember sitting there thinking "He just looks so Douglas." It just seemed like such an odd detail to get right amidst all the stuff they got so terribly wrong.

Then angsty teen, doe-eyed son-of-Claudia (what) happened and I was angry again.

YES EXACTLY! I didn't get it at all. *headshake*

And that Robbie the Rabbit costume was very on point too, lol.

I thought they killed Douglas off?

That is ridiculous. They are supposed to be the same age and unrelated and I'm not saying that because I ship them. (That too though. I mean it's a messed up ship but not as messed up as that would be.) Rage indeed!

Yep, they did. Like after the mall part. THAT early in the film.

And there was a bit with Heather in school that felt SO unnecessary but that'swhere she meets Vincent at. Ugh
As a fellow Heather/Vincent shipper (as well as Claudia/Heather), I'm with you 100% on both the ridiculous and the rage the film is. Sigh.
