I just...didn't get Mortal Instruments at all. I didn't understand cutting a demon away from a child or why you'd want to/gain from it. It wasn't like the demon was attached physically to the human. To me, it was the equivalent of stealing a kid's pet. A shitty thing to do, but not something I'd call evil...or worth centering a whole novel/series around.I also 2nd your GoT comment. There were too much space between character chapters, and I'd forget what the last thing was that they were doing. And it was boring. The stakes seemed pretty meh.

Although I think it's unfair to judge my preteen self so rudely. Perhaps ~12 years later, I'd enjoy and appreciate it more.
