Yes, and that reason has nothing to do with realism

Except that for the person who likes the character, realism probably does have to do with why they like the character. That's why they bring it up in defense of the character.

IME, people don't say "I like this character because he's realistic". They say "this is a good character because he's realistic".

So, you know, how else are you supposed to respond to that conversation, except to say that you don't give a shit that he's realistic?
