Yeah, I liked everyone in 4 too. It gets picked on a lot and treated like a black sheep, but some of the scares (the hauntings in particular) are so subtle and effective IMO, and the random element makes for great replay value. Will never forget being 14 and going "I'm sure that rabbit wasn't pointing at me before."

2 is fantastic and still my favourite. It's such a shame that the movies tried to tackle the complicated storylines of 1/3 (and made such a mess of it) when 2 alone could have made such a brilliant, self-contained little psychological horror flick. :(

Yes, after I played it I really wondered why they didn't go with 2 if they were going to make a movie. I actually met (years later) a woman who had worked on the first movie (as a producer I think) and she said she'd seen it literally 200 times. She said she had never played any of the games, and I got the impression she never talked to Silent Hill fans and was surprised to meet one. She didn't work on the second movie though.

You could theoretically find the rest of my Silent Hill fic under the same name but I ought to warn you that some of it is extremely messed up. (Both in ways you might expect from Silent Hill, and also due to the fact that I had/have a thing for older man/younger woman pairings which is of course not everyone's cup of tea.)
