I disagree. I don't think you're supposed to hate the song, just see the lyrics for what they are - the POV of a man who claims to love a woman but is in fact romanticizing his decision to tell her that oh, she's so great and she'd make a good wife but he doesn't like her enough. I think you're supposed to see how that song makes the singer sound kinda selfish, and by extension, you're supposed to see that Ego is not really on the up and up and also has really selfish plans that he prioritizes over the woman who is supposedly the love of his life. The movie definitely gets that point across... but in a really unsubtle, heavy handed fashion. Hating the song is just the collateral damage.
