Is this Willow?

(Anonymous) 2018-01-20 09:07 pm (UTC)(link)
I had a Willow lunchbox in the third grade.

I will be 40 next year.

What a blast from the past.

I like Willow too. I read the tie-in book a long time ago and I remember it adding to the movie but I don't remember it now.

Willow!

Oh, the dust of a broken heart. I loved Sorcha. "I am your moon, your light and your stars and it went away!!!" -kicks Madmartigan and runs off-

Chris Clairemont paired with George Lucas to write a follow up trilogy. Book One set everything up in Lucas' usual style, but the following two were better. Shadow Moon, Shadow Dawn and Shadow Star.

This is one of those few cheesy 80s movies that wouldn't be too bad with a remake, better CGI and you know a bunch of follow up movies based on the novels. Highly dependent on casting. HIGHLY.

I bought that first book, but couldn't get into the story. Wasn't Elora a teenager and Madmartigan and Sorsha nowhere in the story?

I love this movie. It could probably stand a remaster but I never ever want it remade.

I still love Willow too, OP.

I love Willow. Such a fun movie & a young, pretty Val Kilmer. *sighs dreamily*

An all-time fave for sure.

My mom loved this and introduced me as a child. I haven't watched it as an adult, so I don't know how it holds up.

I loved the movie, I read the novelization until it fell apart. I'm torn between wanting to rewatch it and being afraid it won't hold up.

I have the junior novelization in my classroom library. Most of my students (4th graders) haven't even heard of the movie. :(

(Anonymous) 2018-01-21 05:50 pm (UTC)(link)
I saw it as an adult for the first time last year and it was brilliant.

I love Willow! I adore the soundtrack; one of James Horner's best and I think this was one of the first films when ILM did CGI morphing. Sorsha was one of my favorite heroines growing up. She was so badass! I wanted red hair just like her. I sold all my toys on ebay years ago, but I think I still have my Sorsha jigsaw puzzle in my garage. Such a fun movie and that baby is adorable.

Haven't thought about this movie in years. Now I want to rewatch it and hunt for fanfic. :)
