I enjoyed the tv show but I felt like Sarah Connor was significantly less likeable because she was a lot more complex. There were times when she wasn't a particularly heartwarming or nice maternal figure, but I felt like the show did a good job of showing you why she didn't have that luxury while not making excuses for her. I don't remember her seeming whiny, but it's been years since I watched this.
