I love both the Sarah Connor of T2 and the Sarah Connor of T:SCC, but personally I prefer the Sarah of the TV show. She felt like a more complex character, and I think the writers did an incredible job of depicting her as someone who was struggling with an unresolvable inner conflict. She desperately wanted to be a good person and a gentle, nurturing parent, but at the same time she knew she had to be hard, and vigilant, and that in order to save them all she had to deprive her child of childhood and never let him feel safe.

I also felt the show did a good job of turning Sarah's general bad-assery into something that could be sustained over seasons. She wasn't as extreme of a badass as the Sarah of T2, but her capability in the face of threat generally felt more nuanced to me. The show's Sara was primarily about being cautious and avoiding danger, but when danger found them she would act immediately and decisively, and that was were you really saw her strength come out.

I love T2's Sarah. I love that she was a beast, physically, and I love her extreme bamfiness. But I think it would've been nearly impossible to build a sustainable TV series around that character. She was just too full-throttle for that.

^ Pretty much all this. I like Movie!Sarah Connor. But I don't think that would've worked over the course of a TV series. TV!Sarah Connor was very well written, IMO, in that it showed you how thankless and hard it would be to live like that, day in and day out.

Same. I'm kind of shocked that someone would call her "whiny", though. She was sometimes tired and sad but I think T2 levels of hardcore the whole 2 seasons wouldn't have been very interesting.

The OP stated it was from tge actress' portrayal though? Not the writing.
