Well, in those examples they do have a strong resemblance.

When I first started watching Criminal Minds, I didn't even notice that Elle left & Emily took over. It took me forever to realize they were different actresses. They don't look similar at all, really, but *shrugs*

I didn't become a regular watcher until later in the series - only caught an episode here and there. And it wasn't until I went back and started from the beginning that I realised Emily and Elle were different too.

tbf, Criminal Minds is (or at least used to be) *hilariously* fond of keeping their ensemble fully stocked with One Blonde Woman, One Brunette Woman, One Black Guy, and One Old Guy. (Sometimes a member of one of these categories would stick around for a long time, but there *had* to be one of each. I think they've begun to diversify their lineup somewhat recently, though--there's a black WOMAN now! Who'd'a thunk.
