Preach.

For a 12-episode anime that is over two years old, the fandom is remarkably resilient. The anime sales are still going really strong, especially with the upcoming Blu-ray release. It's natural that out would be dying down a little, but I'm sure there will be an upkick when the movie comes out.

It's a little over 13 months old, not 2 years.

I somehow managed to avoid the crazy segment of the fandom and I'm forever grateful for that.

Yeah, same, being as I was not on Tumblr. I found the fandom well-meaning enough, if just a tiny bit self-congratulatory for liking "REAL GAY ANIME" instead of that "gross BL". But overall, seemed like nice folks.

Yes, I'm not exactly in the fandom, but I have friends who are and they (a) seem to have avoided any crazy and (b) have pointed me at some quality fics.

Of course, I have spent a lot of time on the fringes of Who fandom, so my bar for crazy may just be overly high....

Same, Who-fandom has seriously made me immune to most other supposed fandom wanks.
I’ve steered clear of it in YOI, I don’t think it ever were that bad.

Isn't it getting a season 2?

(Anonymous) 2018-01-22 12:28 am (UTC)(link)
It's getting a movie that is supposed to come out sometime this year. Season 2 hasn't been announced, but considering the success of the anime (continuing to top charts even throughout 2017), there's a good chance a season 2 will be in the works.

(Anonymous) 2018-01-22 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, this fandom has seemed to be overly wanky and gross.

(Anonymous) 2018-01-22 04:19 am (UTC)(link)
Like in all fandoms, blocking the wankers (and following active, not-wanking people) improves everything.

That's why I still have a lively dashboard full of YOI, and I don't think I've seen any wank since the toillet dj.

(Anonymous) 2018-01-22 09:29 am (UTC)(link)
They'll be back the next time a "gay" anime comes out. I'm fairly sure it's the same group of people moving from fandom to fandom anyway.

(Anonymous) 2018-01-22 05:04 pm (UTC)(link)
those fuckers

liking animes with pretty boys

how dare they

(Anonymous) 2018-01-23 09:08 pm (UTC)(link)
lol you seem sensitive

(Anonymous) 2018-01-22 11:24 am (UTC)(link)
Your exposure to wank in fandom is entirely your own doing. I have no sympathy for people who complain about the fandom of a show (unless it involves the creators themselves).

I loved my time in the YOI fandom and interact daily with friends I made through it. I’m still baffled people couldn’t avoid this stuff they complain about. Curate your shit, my friends.
