I think, even if someone wanted to make something in that vein, they would probably just come up with a new setting so they don't have to deal with all of the metaplot, and all of the dumb garbage, and all of the bad stories, and also so they don't have to deal with Games Workshop who I assume would be real pains in the ass to work with.

There are good stories in the setting, but not that many, and they just have so much baggage attached to them that it far outweighs the value of the brand name.

From what I've heard tangentially in tabletop circles, Games Workshop is notoriously a pain in the ass.
