Me, too. Honestly, I never understood how it's even possible to crush on celebrities. I get crushing on fictional characters portrayed by celebrities, but beyond that, I just don't get it. I don't think I've ever jerked off or anything to a celebrity or had any interest in following their personal lives.

Do you not find celebrities hot? That is generally what people mean when they talk about crushing on celebs.

Well, sure. Sort of. Celebrities are hot in movies, with a good makeup/hair/costume team. Outside of movies, they generally look pretty normal, and the guys always grow weird facial hair, and the makeup on the women looks a lot more obvious.

But I get finding a celebrity hot. I don't get being personally invested in them.

Is crushing on someone getting personally invested in them? I mean, when I've had crushes on real people, I'm not personally getting invested in THEM. I'm usually just finding something about them attractive.

Maybe this is a difference in what we're defining as "crush". Crush, to me, implies some kind of more personal investment, or interest in the person that extends beyond an impartial "they're hot".

Whereas crush implies to me that I really don't know anything about a person beyond the superficial or it would be real feelings, not a crush.

That's really surprising. "Crush" is common vernacular, especially in school settings, to mean the person you like and want to date.

Huh. When I was in school crush to me was always, "That person is cute" and not really anything deeper.

DA - I've gotta agree with AYRT. When I was in school, crush always meant "a person I like and would like to go out with."
