Just once, I would like to see a showrunner come out and say "even though we didn't set out to queer-bait, we realize that our actions had that effect, we were wrong, and we were sorry."

Instead, it's all backpedal and no-homo and "you must have known we were just kidding around, how could you seriously think that we would make the hero of an action show non-hetero?"

Not the same thing, I know, but on Hannibal, the conversation basically went, "We didn't set out to have these two dudes fall in love, but wow, the show just kind of went there, so we're embracing it."
