Seems less to do with the show itself. S/he might be referring to the endless stream of wank, spoilers, and vitriol. It wasn't exactly confined to one group, either. There are a number of talented fan-writers and fan-artists who simply left because of all of it. SGA fandom seemed pretty huge when it came to my attention, so I imagine a lot of people felt welcomed at first too.
