Well, if we're taking things to a cultural level, I think you could make a case that callout culture isn't exactly healthy or productive, either. In fact, it's a little assholish itself, isn't it?

I'm not sure "callout culture" is the precise right phrase, but sure, I can see what you're saying.

But the thing is, you can make all kinds of reasonable criticisms of the ways in which this case was publicized - and in fact, people have absolutely done that - while also having the conversation about not being a dick all the time. I don't see how criticizing the piece is opposed to having the conversation about normalized dickishness and expectations and communications.
