[Jojo's Bizarre Adventure]

Is Jojo as awesome as they say? I haven't seen it yet, but keep hearing people talk about it (but not to the extent that I have any idea what it's about, besides what the title implies). I actually just assumed it was a kids' show for awhile.

I kept hearing it was awesome and tried to watch the first couple of episodes but I just could NOT with the animation.

I think to some extent it's been a little overhyped due to certain parts of it being very memetic (you know, all the, it was me, Dio! and Ora ora ora etc. etc.), but if you just keep your expectations moderated I thought it was quite enjoyable as a wacky action adventure with lots of fun characters and unique powers.

I would note that if you're the type of person who likes to get really nitty gritty with details about the "rulesets" of their powers and how precisely does X work then you might be kind of aggravated. Araki isn't exactly the best about consistency.

Depends on the series. Phantom Blood is pretty meh, Battle Tendency is far and away the best one that's been animated so far, Stardust Crusaders is really strong but it does drag in quite a few places, and Diamond is Unbreakable starts strong but really starts petering out about halfway through.

You'll have to be down with Araki's ultra-butch designs, but they grow on you. It can get pretty violent, but never so over the top it's grotesque.

So basically: I recommend Battle Tendency and Stardust Crusaders. Battle Tendency if you want something a little more goofy, Stardust Crusaders if you want a little more lore and seriousness.
