(Anonymous) 2018-01-28 01:46 pm (UTC)(link)Hint: if it were just the ~gay storyline~ that got them viewers, it wouldn't be nearly this popular, as not even the best-selling BL anime of all time made anywhere NEAR the dent YOI has.
That's not to say the homoromantic content isn't a big part of the splash it's made, but it was crazy popular before episode 7 was even a glimmer in fans' eyes.
The director's comments definitely sound like they are salty AF that their show hasn't capitalized on riding on YOI's coattails like the thought it would.
