It's valid enough to the people who use it.

Yep. Exactly. It's 100% a partisan term for people that you disagree with.

Yep! That's what the internet in the 2010s is all about, isn't it?

I've come to see that twitter is the place you go to get into fights about politics with strangers, tumblr is the place you go to get into fights about fandom with strangers, and dreamwidth is the place you go to complain about it all... and probably get into another fight about either, with an anon.

(As far as I can tell, Facebook seems to be about sharing click bait with relatives and people you haven't spoken to in half a decade, and Instagram is for being jealous of celebrities.)

Bravo. Amazing sum up of it all. I loled.

Exactly. And the thing is, with places like Twitter and Tumblr, it doesn't matter what you're even fighting about, how pointless the shit-flinging gets, and what we're doing to society - all that's important is that we keep getting aggravated at each other, and keep spending time on those sites, because the more time we spend there, the more richer some corporate interest who owns it gets.

There are CEOs stuffing thier pockets with our anger and envy and fear and everything else that makes us act like our worse selves and it's just... something we shouldn't keep playing into.
