I love the Keystone movies and The Bangville Police is one of my favorites. Mabel parodies the "Griffith damsel in distress" perfectly!

And silent movies are fun to watch if you are a bit adept at reading lips. Sometimes what they say is completely NOT what the intertitles say, like "What Price Glory?" Edmund Lowe and Victor McLaglen's lips are saying, "You goddamn sonofabitch!" and the title card says, "You stink worse than a skunk" or something like that. XD

If you can sit through all of "Intolerance," Harron plays the hero in the modern story. Both he and Mae Marsh are brilliant. Poor Bobby - he had a tragic end and it's still unclear if it was an accident or suicide. :(

I'll constantly rewind to see if I can figure out what they're mouthing, and now I know what movie I'm watching next.

Do people find it tough to sit through Intolerance or is it just a long movie? I try to get people to watch Lang movies, but the premise of his movies scare some off.

Would you mind if I popped over to your journal and clicked a little button that said "Add as Friend"?

Re: Intolerance. Well, there are 4 stories and it's constantly cross-cutting between them. It confused them then, and while it doesn't confuse audiences so much now, it's a bit jarring and a couple of the stories are either dull or badly acted (the Jesus one & the Huguenot story, in particular). The Babylon segment is very impressive in a DeMille way, though some of the acting is, er, lacking. There is a longer version of the Modern Story (the one with Harron & Marsh) called The Mother and the Law, that was released as a movie unto itself back in 1919 or so. Griffith tried to salvage what he could from it to make some extra $$$.

I love Fritz Lang! Most partial to Dr. Mabuse.

Sure! I'll friend you back!
