It's Star Trek canon, who gives a shit

Every iteration has retconned multiple things. And watching TOS, there's a lot that should be left behind. (Giant brain cells that look like fake vomit, the world that's an exact mirror of Earth, but everyone is pre-pubescent.)

For that matter, there are TNG plotlines that everyone seems to agree should be best forgotten and never touched again.

That time that silly rubber parasites took over Starfleet, made Riker eat mealworms, and sent off a message out into space...

That time Diana had a space baby...

That time characters with about a minute of screen time tried to take over Starfleet with a mind-control game, and Wesley Crusher confronted his biggest existential horror, everyone has has more sex than him.

I liked that first episode. Especially after reading one of the post-canon DS9 books where it turns out they are related to the Trill.

Don't forget Beverly having sex with a ghost from a candle or lamp.

The one where the go to the African planet.

The one where Starfleet was maybe getting taken over by these scorpion things that live in your brain and they just kind of dropped it. You can't pull the "The End... OR IS IT?" ending in the middle of an episodic television series and not ever go back and resolve the creepy possibility that the mind-control scorpion parasites were taking over.
