This is true, but it's also true that canons tend to pair two het male/female characters together no matter how much more boring or illogical it is compared to every other possible combination.

Also, I presume you don't watch the show, but fyi, I think most people who've watched the show would see Dirk as far more likely to be canonically gay than canonically straight.

Relevance in this instance? It's far from a stretch. The sexual preference of one character (Dirk) is entirely unknown. Todd canonically is into women but whether he's also into men is likewise unknown. As they are the two leads and canonical close friends, they're hardly illogical in ship terms and the boring bit is surely just a matter of opinion.

Diverse ships are to be encouraged and celebrated, but dissing all white guys ships as boring and illogical is trite tokenism.

Relevance is that this is a show full of vibrant, interesting characters and ships. To only ship the two most boring characters together, who JUST HAPPEN to be straight-presenting white dudes, is tiresome. It's like desperately looking for a way to make a bizarre show less interesting.

Yes, I love this show and Dirk x Todd is the absolute least interesting thing about it. Todd x Farrah, Dirk or Todd x Bart, hell even Todd and his sister or Dirk x Rainbow Girl are more interesting.

First and foremost, I will never in a million years believe that Dirk is into women. If Dirk isn't gay (or possibly some form of ace) I will eat my hat. (Not that we'll ever have his sexual preferences confirmed one way or the other now that the show is canceled.)

I absolutely do ship Brotzly, but that has very little to do with my perception of Dirk as not attracted to women. The show could make Dirk ace, or pair him with another male character and I would have to acknowledge that it was a very reasonable narrative choice. But the idea of Dirk/Amanda or Dirk/Mona just makes me lol.

Secondly, I like Farah, but imo Farah/Todd is one of those canonical pairings that is just incredibly predictable and boring. I would've been down for Farah/Amanda, ace!Farah, or not-ace-but-enjoys-being-single!Farah.

So I guess, basically, I disagree with this secret on every single point, and I am 100% in agreement with the pairings fandom tends to like for this show.

No opinion either way on Brotzly, but it would take a hell of a leap of imagination to shoehorn Dirk into a het ship.

i'm afraid you're shipping canon interracial-het OP, unless you happen to get very lucky it's easily one of the most unpopular shipping types in fandom.

First. YAY Dirk Gently secret!

Second. I am mostly there for the Rowdy 3/anyone.

Dirk is probably not straight .... probably not 100% gay either ... i kinda want him to be the bicycle.

Farah is an epic badass and i would looove me some Farah/Amanda ... with the Rowdy 3 being their man-servants. Gods help me finding that!
